1922/1 Overdate Threepence PCGS VG0 - Details
The 1922/21 overdate threepence is one of Australia’s key collectable rarities. It is keenly sought-after across the entire grade spectrum, from the highest states of preservation down to the dreaded “body bags”. (A body bag is an informal term to describe a coin that PCGS has authenticated but not assigned a numerical grade. The official term is “Details grade”.) The present coin, assigned a Details grade for scrapes on the obverse, is one of the most affordable examples of this classic Australian rarity currently on the market. Net of the scrapes, the coin would have made a solid VG08 or VG10, with practically full “Advance Australia” on the reverse. Sourced from a Western Australian contact, and previously in the collection of the late Perth auctioneer Mike McAndrew. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
