The 1918 Half Sovereign from Perth is the key coin of the George V half sovereign series and one of the key dates of the half sovereign series overall. This piece is particularly well-struck, with only slight flatness on the rider’s chest, while the horse’s reins are sharp and clear. The obverse has light field marks consistent with a coin in PCGS MS62, while die-polishing marks are evident on the reverse under a glass. This is one of only a handful of Mint State 1918 Perth half sovereigns we’ve had in stock over the last few years, and is a great type piece for a half sovereign set. Certainly a key rarity for a half sovereign collection, and VERY RARE in this state of preservation. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
