2005 Gold Proof Four Krugerrand South African Coin Set
Limited edition 22 carat gold proof 2005 four-coin Krugerrand set with only 700 sets authorised by the South African Mint in this presentation. The innovative Krugerrand was first issued by the South African Mint in 1967, produced in partnership with The Rand Refinery. Although the main idea behind the Krugerrand was as a vehicle for gold investment, proof editions were also released in small numbers to appeal to coin collectors. The appearance and name of these coins originates with the historic coinage of the South African Republic. The obverse shows a portrait of Paul Kruger, the Boer statesman, designed in the 1890s by German engraver, Otto Schultz. Kruger gives his name to these coins, compounded with Rand, the South African unit of currency. The reverse of these coins show the instantly recognisable springbok, the national animal of South Africa, together with the year. This design is also historic, having first appeared on circulating South African coins in the early 1960s, created by Coert Steynberg. This pre-owned 2005 four-coin set features a 1oz Krugerrand, a 1/2oz Krugerrand, a 1/4oz Krugerrand and a 1/10oz Krugerrand, all struck to proof standard in 22 carat (916.7) gold. These coins are offered in their original capsules inside a red leather SA Mint box. A numbered certificate of authenticity is also enclosed, confirming these coins are genuine articles from South Africa's national mint. We advise keeping these collectable coins in their capsules to preserve their flawless proof finish. System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String] System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String]
