Gold proof three coin Macau Year of the Rat Chinese Zodiac set from 1996. These sought-after coins were struck by The Royal Mint in LLantrisant, Wales for the Monetary and Foreign Exchange Authority of Macau. Macau is a city and special administrative region in the southwest of China and is one of the richest and most densely populated regions in the world. This set is part of a series released between 1995 and 2006, representing the years of the old Chinese calendar, named after animals. 1996 was the year of the rat. Those born in the year of the rat are said to be adaptable, clever and kind. The three 916.7 gold coins in this highly collectable set feature a rat to the reverse, along with the denominations: 1000 Patacas, 500 Patacas and 250 Patacas. The Macanese Pataca is the currency of the Macau Special Administrative Region. The reverses read 'MACAU 1996' and bear an image of the iconic ruins of Saint Paul's Cathedral in Santo António, Macau. The coins are comparable in size and composition to British Double Sovereigns, 'full' Sovereigns and Half Sovereigns respectively. Each comes from a limited edition presentation with just 2500 of the smaller coins issued in this year. We are offering this set in its original red leather presentation box with a Royal Mint logo to the inside of the lid. The coins are presented in individual capsules. An information booklet in several languages is included. System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String] System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String]
