1996 UK legal tender set celebrating Elizabeth II's seventieth birthday. Included is the Charles Dickens paper Ten Pound note as well as Her Late Majesty's seventieth birthday .925 silver Crown. The Mint collaborated with the Bank of England to bring together England's expertly struck coinage with its richly detailed bank notes in this special commemorative set. The Bank of England note features Elizabeth II to obverse and presents Charles Dickens to reverse alongside a sporting scene from The Pickwick Papers. The silver proof Crown meanwhile, which weighs 28.28 grams and has a 38.61 millimetre diameter, features a multi-flag reverse by Avril Vaughan and Raphael Maklouf's Elizabeth II to obverse. The £10 is distinct in featuring the cypher 'HM70', unique to this celebratory set and not found on any circulating notes. The note's serial number - between 1 and 2,000 - is reflective of the 2,000 issue limit for this set, which arrives in the original brass-hinged wooden box.
