Highly collectable 1927 specimen silver coin set, issued by The Royal Mint. This official set was struck to mark the limited reintroduction of the Crown coin, last issued in 1902. So-called 'Wreath Crowns' were issued annually from 1927 until 1936, named for the design on their reverse. Intended for collectors, these coins were struck in limited numbers and rarely circulated. In addition to the 1927 Crown, this set also includes a Halfcrown, Florin, Shilling, Sixpence, and Threepence, all struck with a proof finish in .500 silver, the standard alloy for British currency coins at the time. Just 15,000 of these 1927 six-coin sets were issued by the UK's national mint, originally supplied in a red leather presentation case with the Royal Arms in gold to the lid.
