The history-making Battle of Saratoga is commemorated by the Saratoga National Historical Park. The park lends its importance to this America the Beautiful Quarter, designed by Renata Gordon. The reverse of this circulated New York Quarter Dollar shows the moment in which British officer John Burgoyne handed his sword to Horatio Gates. The national park design is paired with the definitive obverse effigy of George Washington. The coin is struck from 5.67 grams of cupronickel and has a mintage of 438,800,000, thanks to the combined efforts of the Denver and Philadelphia Mints. This New York 'Beautiful' Quarter is the 30th overall in the series and the final to be dated 2015.
