2024 Two Pound struck in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the National Gallery. The Gallery's doors have welcomed visitors since 1824, opening art up to the masses and inspiring generations of young creatives. It is this marvellous entrance that makes up the reverse of this National Gallery coin, designed by Edwina Ellis. This £2 also features a Latin edge inscription meaning 'The glory of our ancestors is a light to our descendants'. On the obverse of this British coin celebrating 200 years of the National Gallery is the definitive effigy of Charles III from Martin Jennings. This collectable edition is struck in both cupronickel and nickelbrass for a bimetallic appearance and finished to a special brilliant uncirculated quality. Inside the included presentation folder is a written commemoration for the important function the National Gallery has held in British culture in its 200-year history.
