2023 Yale Of Beaufort Five Pound Brilliant Uncirculated Royal Tudor Beasts Mint Pack Coin
The 2023 Yale of Beaufort is the third brilliant uncirculated Five Pound release in The Royal Mint's new Tudor Beasts series. A fascinating heraldic creature associated with the House of Beaufort, the yale is a spotted goat or antelope with the tusks of a boar and the tail of a lion. It's a symbol of Lady Margaret Beaufort, who was King Henry VIII's grandmother. The Tudor King claimed his royal lineage from his descent from this noble house whose members included Lady Margaret and John of Gaunt. In this design by sculptor and illustrator David Lawrence, the yale appears chained to the arms of Jane Seymour, King Henry's third wife and the mother of his son, the future King Edward VII. It's the heraldic symbols associated with Henry and Jane that inspired this Royal Mint series which will feature the ten beasts that guard the gates of Hampton Court Palace. The Tudor palace is now open to the public and cared for by Historic Royal Palaces who collaborated with the Mint on this collection. This edition has a face value of £5 / One Crown and is struck in 28.28 grams of cupronickel. Though released in 2022 the coin bears a 2023 date to the reverse while the obverse shows Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It's one of a select few 2023-dated coins with the late Queen's head on it, enhancing its collectability. As standard, you'll receive your pre-owned BU Yale of Beaufort coin in its original presentation packing, which consists of a informative coin folder with built-in coin capsule.
