2023 Charles III Coronation Fifty Pence Brilliant Uncirculated Coin In Folder
The official Brilliant Uncirculated Fifty Pence to mark the coronation of King Charles III. These collectable 50p coins are issued complete in the original limited edition packaging from The Royal Mint, detailing the coronation ceremony with interesting information about the new King. It’s a must-have for coin collectors and royal enthusiasts. On the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, Charles III acceded to the throne. He was the longest heir apparent in British history, waiting 70 years before becoming King. These coins feature a special portrait of the King on the obverse. It's the work of sculptor Martin Jennings and shows the new monarch facing left wearing the Tudor Crown, the first time in over three and a half centuries that a British monarch has worn a crown on UK coinage. On the reverse, a stylised line drawing of Westminster Abbey by Natasha Jenkins is seen in the background, with His Majesty's crowned royal cypher in the foreground. Formally called the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter at Westminster, nearly every English and British monarch since 1066 has been crowned within the walls of the Abbey. Both sides of the UK 50p will have a superior finish compared to ordinary circulation coins due to the fact that they’re struck twice during production to give a top-quality finish. Specifications of this BU cupro-nickel coin are a weight of 8.00 grams and measures 27.30 millimetres in diameter.
