2022 Peter Rabbit Five Pound Coloured Brilliant Uncirculated Beatrix Potter Mint Pack Coin
A second brilliant uncirculated Five Pound Crown was issued by The Royal Mint in 2022 featuring Peter Rabbit, coinciding with the 120th anniversary of the publication of 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit'. This pre-owned edition is the coloured piece, showing an incredibly attractive reverse design of the original illustration that appeared on the cover of the 1902 Beatrix Potter book. Peter Rabbit not only features in his own tales, but appeared in five other stories, such as The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, in his iconic blue jacket and often munching on a carrot. As well as an accomplished children's author, Potter was also a respected mycologist and conservationist. She was inspired to write all her little tales by her childhood with many pets and adventures of her own. On this collector's piece, The Royal Mint product designer Ffion Gwillim beautifully recreates the original Peter Rabbit illustration on the reverse (tails) side alongside the legend: 'THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT'. This is complemented by Jody Clark's engraving of Queen Elizabeth II, which is the fifth official UK coin portrait of Her Majesty. This Crown coin is issued in its original fold out display slipcase which features information about the author and the design. A limited edition piece with a maximum mintage of 8,600, it's composed of 28.28 grams of cupronickel alloy with a collector's BU finish.
