2021 brilliant uncirculated Two Pound coin from Britain's Royal Mint, celebrating one of the most famous Scotsmen of all time: Sir Walter Scott. The man of many talents was born in Edinburgh in 1771. One of the best-selling authors of the 19th century, Sir Walter is best known for his novels including 'Ivanhoe' and 'Waverley'. His stories blend historical events with his rich imagination, earning him the nickname 'the Wizard of the North'. This collectable £2 coin feature a design by Stephen Raw which incorporates a small side portrait of the writer on the bottom left, with his name 'Sir Walter Scott' written in an old-fashioned typeface. Below, are the words 'NOVELIST, HISTORIAN, POET' in acknowledgement of his achievements. The outer ring carries the legend '250th ANNIVERSARY OF HIS BIRTH 2021.' Around the edge of the coin is an inscription reading 'THE WILL TO DO, THE SOUL TO DARE' which is a quote taken from Scott's famous 1810 poem, 'The Lady of the Lake.' On the obverse is Jody Clark's official effigy of Queen Elizabeth, which was used on UK coinage from 2015 until 2023. This pre-owned collectors coin is the same size and weight as those found in your change but is distinguished by a fine, brilliant uncirculated finish, rich in detail with a high-shine appearance. The surface of this Walter Scott £2 is protected by the limited edition Royal Mint presentation packaging which is filled with information on Scott and his literary works.
