Prince Philip was previously President of the Royal Mint’s Advisory Committee between 1952 and 1999, and he personally approved this reverse design by Rank-Broadley. On the coin’s other side, Jody Clark’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is visible. This engraving of The Queen is her fifth definitive portrait on UK coinage.
