2021 Tale Of Peter Rabbit Five Pound Brilliant Uncirculated Mint Pack Coin
The Royal Mint has been celebrating the life and works of Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit on circulating and commemorative Fifty Pence coinage since 2016, but this 2021 brilliant uncirculated Five Pound is the first time this lovable little rabbit has featured on a coin denomination of this type. Best known for her 'Little Tales' featuring Peter Rabbit and friends, Beatrix Potter was also a respected mycologist and conservationist. Her charming illustrations are carefully reproduced for UK coinage with the design of this £5 Crown coin taken from The Tale of Peter Rabbit, first published in 1901. The design features the mischievous Peter Rabbit's mother and his siblings, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail, at the opening of Potter's most famous work. The text reads: 'NOW run along and don't get into mischief. I am going out.'. This reverse is new to the range, adapted for this issue by the artist Ffion Gwillim. This is paired with the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark which appears on the obverse along with the face value. This pre-owned British coin is struck in 28.28 grams of cupronickel alloy and has a 38.61 millimetre diameter. It's offered in its original presentation slipcase from The Royal Mint, which is the original limited edition packaging.
