On 15th February 1971, history was made when UK's coinage officially shifted from a 'centuries-old money' system of Pounds, Shillings and Pence (d), to a new decimal currency where the pound was divided into 100 (new) Pence (p). Fifty years on from Decimal Day, The Royal Mint celebrated this momentous moment in the history of British money with a range of commemorative Fifty Pence pieces.
