Tales of the Earth Megalosaurus Fifty Pence, part of The Royal Mint Experience's 2020 Strike Your Own range. This Dinosauria Collection 50p was available for only two months in 2020, and natural history lovers at The Royal Mint Experience sought to channel the fearsome Megalosaurus in snapping them up. Robert Nicholls' reverse design drew upon his own expertise in palaeontology as well as the Natural History Museum's extensive archives. The scarred and muscular Megalosaurus is joined by a representation of one such piece in the collection: an original William Buckland fossilised find. To the obverse of this 8.00 gram Strike Your Own 50p lies Jody Clark's definitive effigy of Elizabeth II. Both of the designs present on this 27.30 millimetre cupronickel coin hold impressive detail thanks to Strike Your Own's BU process. Included is the original illustrated Royal Mint Experience wallet, which capsules the coin alongside relevant insights.
