2019 Crown Jewels Five Pound Brilliant Uncirculated Tower Of London Mint Pack Coin
The second release in The Royal Mint's 2019 Tower of London brilliant uncirculated coin series pays tribute to the Crown Jewels, which are held in the famous castle in London. These collectable coins in this Royal Mint series are produced in conjunction with the Historic Royal Palaces. From the 12th century Coronation Spoon to the infamous Kohinoor diamond from India, the Crown Jewels are comprised of over 100 objects and over 230,000 gemstones. Part of the overall Crown Jewels, are the Coronation Regalia which represent the British monarch and are worn at important ceremonies. They include the Saint Edward's Crown and the Imperial State Crown, as well as trumpets, swords, rings, and robes. Glyn Davies' reverse design depicts the crown of Mary of Modena which used to be worn by queen consorts. Imposed around this scene is part of the architectural plan of the Tower of London and Mint Street. When this BU coin is viewed together with the other three coins in the series, the architectural plans come together to show a complete map of the Tower. An inscription reading 'TOWER OF LONDON' is written on the bottom right-hand side of the design. On the obverse is Jody Clark's official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was used on UK coinage from 2015 to 2023. The weight of the coin is 28.28 grams, the diameter is 38.61 millimetres and it's struck in cupronickel to a BUnc finish.
