The BU Mrs Tittlemouse 50p coin is one of four issued in the 2018 Royal Mint Beatrix Potter collection. These charming Fifty Pence pieces have become a collecting phenomenon since the series was launched in 2016. They feature beloved characters from Potter's 'Little Tales' - a series of children's books she wrote and illustrated, enjoyed by millions around the world. Mrs Tittlemouse is one of four characters depicted on UK coins issued in 2018. She first appeared in a previous Little Tale but became the subject of her own book - The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse - first published in July 1910. She's a woodmouse who works to keep her home tidy, but is thwarted by insect and arachnid intruders as well as her neighbour, Mr Jackson the toad. It's just Mrs Thomasina Tittlemouse, clutching her basket, that appears on this 2018 coin. Like all previous Beatrix Potter coins, the reverse design is the work of artist Emma Noble, working from Beatrix Potter's original illustrations. The obverse side features the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. The collectable coin is struck twice to give a brilliant uncirculated finish, which is designed for collectors and offers a greater level of detail than their ordinary circulating counterparts. This 50 Pence weighs 8 grams, consists of cupronickel and comes in an attractive limited edition slipcase, decorated with Potter's illustrations.
