This collectable Royal Mint BUnc Five Pound coin was issued to celebrate the Sapphire Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II. In 2017, she reach the milestone of 65 years on the British throne, an accomplishment which has not been match by any other British monarch. She succeeded her father, King George VI in February 1952 when she on a royal engagement in the Protectorate of Kenya and was formally crowned at her coronation 16 months later in June 1953. On this limited edition coin, the engraver Glyn Davies places the Imperial State Crown at the centrepiece of the reverse, with a quote from the Queen's 21st birthday radio broadcast from Cape Town, South Africa placed to the left of it: 'MY WHOLE LIFE, WHETHER IT BE LONG OR SHORT, DEVOTED TO YOUR SERVICE'. On the outer ring of the traditional reverse design, Davies also put the lettering 'SAPPHIRE JUBILEE · 1952 - 2017'. His design is paired with Jody Clark's portrait of Her Majesty on the obverse, which is the fifth definitive UK coin image of her. The coin weighs 28.28 grams, measures 38.61 millimetres in diameter and is struck twice to give a brilliant uncirculated finish. It's housed in an officially approved Royal Mint coin sleeve, which includes colourful photographs and information about the Queen's Sapphire Jubilee.
