2011 Acquatics Fifty Pence Lines Over The Face Brilliant Uncirculated Olympics Coin
Rare Olympic Swimming 50p with lines over the face error design. These coins were released by The Royal Mint ahead of the 2012 London Olympics and feature a design by Jonathan Oliffe showing a swimmer moving through the water, represented by wavy lines. While standard 2011 Swimming 50p coins are fairly common, a sought-after variant features a notable design detail: lines over the swimmer's face. Ordinary Aquatics 50p coins do not have such lines. Supposedly, just 600 coins with the 'lines over the face' detail were issued before the design was changed. That makes these coins among the rarest base-metal Fifty Pence coins ever issued, with authenticated examples highly sought after by serious collectors.
