1995 Welsh Dragon One Pound Brilliant Uncirculated Welsh Mint Pack Coin
Starting with the lion rampant of Scotland and finishing with the three lions of England, a new series of One Pound coins representing each of the four Home Nations through their heraldic emblems was begun in 1994 by The Royal Mint. This dragon design representing Wales was second in the series, and is available in a variety of formats including this brilliant uncirculated version. The reverse design of this popular coin features a left facing dragon with wings open and leg raised, with the denomination, 'ONE POUND' inscribed below. The edge inscription reads 'PLEIDIOL WYF I'M GWLAD' which translates to 'true I am to my country.' On the obverse is Raphael Maklouf's third official portrait of The Queen. This BU version is struck in a nickel-brass alloy and is one of a limited edition issued in this Welsh-language presentation from The Royal Mint.
