2023 Tudor Beasts Yale Of Beaufort Two Ounce Silver Bullion Coin
Silver two ounce Royal Mint Tudor Beasts bullion coin featuring the Yale of Beaufort: a fascinating heraldic creature, associated with the House of Beaufort. King Henry VIII claimed his royal lineage from this noble house whose members included his grandmother, Lady Margaret Beaufort, and John of Gaunt. The yale, a symbol associated with Lady Margaret, is a legendary animal, depicted as a spotted goat or antelope with the tusks of a boar and the tail of a lion. In this design by sculptor and illustrator David Lawrence, the yale is shown chained to the arms of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII's third wife and the mother of his son, the future King Edward VII. It's the heraldic symbols associated with Henry and Jane that inspired this Royal Mint series which will feature the ten beasts that guard the gates of Hampton Court Palace. The Tudor palace is now open to the public and cared for by Historic Royal Palaces who collaborated with the Mint on this collection. This pre-owned Tudor Yale coin has a face value of £5 / Five Pounds and is struck in 62.42 grams of 99.99% fine silver. It's a pound sterling investment coin, making it CGT-exempt. Though released in 2022, the coin bears a '2023' date to the reverse while the obverse shows Jody Clark's portrait of the late Queen. It's one of the very few coins dated '2023' that features Queen Elizabeth II, which adds to its collectability. There may be some very small production marks on this uncirculated piece, which is perfectly normal for mass-produced coins and doesn't take away from their bullion value.
