2022 Tudor Beasts Lion Of England Two Ounce Silver Bullion Coin
First bullion release in The Royal Mint's new Tudor Beasts series: the two ounce Lion of England coin. Created in collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces, the Tudor Beasts is a celebration of England's most famous royal dynasty through the real and heraldic creatures used on their coats of arms. The ten-part collection will feature designs, inspired by a group of statues at Hampton Court Palace. Like all the coins in this exciting new series, the 2022 Tudor Lion features a reverse design crafted by the esteemed Royal Mint illustrator, David Lawrence. His creations take inspiration from the sculptures at Hampton Court, each expertly adapted for the surface of these collectable UK coins. Lawrence's lion is crowned and clutches a shield that combines the arms of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. In heraldry, lions symbolise courage and nobility. These fearsome beasts have featured in the English royal arms since mediaeval times. The fifth official UK coin portrait of the late Elizabeth II appears on the obverse: one of the last times she is seen on the nation's coinage. Struck in 62.42 grams of 999.9 fins silver, this 2oz coin is offered in The Royal Mint's bullion finish. These investment pieces feature a special security feature: a textured background that makes Tudor Beasts bullion coins easily distinguishable from their proof counterparts. Some small blemishes could be present on the surface of these CGT-free investment coins, which is perfectly normal and won't affect their resale value.
