One ounce 'Two Dragons' uncirculated silver coin, combining Welsh and Chinese culture. In 2018 The Royal Mint celebrated 50 years at its Llantrisant headquarters in South Wales with the issue of a one-off set of collectable coins in gold and silver. Britain's national mint formally relocated to the new production facility in 1968 after it became obvious that its operations in Royal Mint Court, London were being constrained by the limited scope to expand. This 1oz silver bullion coin pays tribute to The Royal Mint's Welsh connection, whilst also being an expression of the Mint's intention to expand its business into the Far East. Experienced coin designer Timthoy Noad is responsible for this collectable coin's reverse engraving, which shows the Welsh Dragon facing off against the Chinese Dragon. It's deliberately designed to mimic a 'Yin and Yang' pattern, with the Chinese Dragon placed on the top and the Welsh Dragon placed at the bottom. This oriental-style reverse is paired with the fifth and final official UK coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was designed by Jody Clark. Each pre-owned uncirculated coin is composed of 0.999 fine silver, measuring 38.61 millimetres in diameter containing precisely one troy ounce of the precious metal. It has a legal tender value of £2 / Two Pounds, making it exempt from capital gains tax. It's issued loose with no additional presentation packaging. There may be some very slight production marks on the surface owing to mass production methods, which is perfectly normal and will not affect the precious metal value of the coin.
