2005 African Wildlife 1oz Elephant coin, struck under the Somali Republic. This is the second example in the series to be struck for Somalia, as previously this was a Zambian-issue bullion coin. It is said that these early entries are exceptionally rare, with perhaps 4,000 2005-dated 1oz Elephants ever struck. The series continued its ever-changing reverse approach with this .999 coin, which depicts an elephant rearing its trunk and calling among the trees. On the obverse of this African Wildlife coin, which is composed with one troy ounce of silver, is the Somali Coat of Arms. These bullion-grade coins have a face value of 1,000 Shillings and are highly collectable among fans of the 1oz Elephant series.
