But on the 50th anniversary of the first issue of the gold 1oz Krugerrand coin in 2017, the South African Mint announced they would issue a silver edition of the famous bullion coin for the first time. The next year, bullion versions of the silver Krugerrand were made available to the public and have been issued every year since.
