The 2023 2 oz St Helena Queen's Memorial .999 Silver Proof Coin is the first design in The East India Company's Queen's Memorial Collection. It commemorates the first anniversary of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II (Britain's longest-reigning monarch) on 8 September 2022, at the age of 96. ### **Design Details** - **Obverse**: Features the official effigy of **King Charles III** (facing left), with inscriptions including “CHARLES III”, “D • G • REX • F • D”, the year “2023”, and the denomination “£2”. - **Reverse**: Depicts **Britannia** (the iconic symbol of Britain) wearing a Corinthian helmet, in a solemn and mourning pose to commemorate the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. She traditionally holds symbols of British pride and power (such as a shield and trident), but here the design evokes a sense of national mourning.
