Building on the success of the 2018 Token Set, the Royal Canadian Mint presents another exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the latest from its R&D facility in Winnipeg. All six tokens in this set were used to develop new minting innovations, including patented MC4 technology that represents a bold step forward. A special preview of the new MC4 (Multi-Component Composite Circulation Coin): Designed for maximum visual impact, the MC4combines four different components: an outer ring, a polymer separator and an inner core plated with two different alloys. The use of a black, white, and even a clear polymer ring opens up the possibility of integrating more colour and more materials than ever before. The Token set contains 1 coin with each of the following compositions, all with edge in interrupted serrations: - Nickel plated steel (outer ring), transparent clear polymer (separator), copper plated steel (obverse insert), nickel plated steel (reverse insert) - Nickel plated steel (outer ring), black polymer with stainless steel filler (separator), brass plated steel (obverse insert), copper plated steel (reverse insert) - Bronze plated steel (outer ring), white opaque polymer (separator), copper plated steel (obverse insert), brass plated steel (reverse insert) - Bronze plated steel - Copper plated steel - Nickel plated steel Key Selling Points: - Actual test specimens. These six tokens come directly from the Royal Canadian Mint’s R&D facility in Winnipeg, where they were used in calibration and laboratory testing. - Multi-security features. On the first five tokens, the base design (seen on Token 6) has been enhanced with an array of integrated features (microtext, latent images, embossing) that take security to a whole new level without detracting from the art. - Sleek packaging. Sealed in Mylar, all six tokens are enclosed in an envelope and accompanied by a tent card with specifications, as well as a special note from the Chief Technology Officer at the Royal Canadian mint.
