The colorful motive shows Riding Hood with a fearful expression in the foreground and the wolf dressed as a grandmother with a threatening open mouth in the background. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination, fineness and year of issue. **Riding Hood** is one of the best-known tales in Europe. While the first version of the fairy tale dates back to the 17th century and was published by Charles Perrault, the most famous version goes back to the Brothers Grimm. The tale is about a girl with a namesake red cap who cares for her sick grandmother, is deceived by a wolf, and is eventually devoured. In the Grimm version, she is saved by a hunter who fills the wolf's stomach with stones so that it dies. The tale is intended to warn young girls and women of the assaults of violent men who may not immediately reveal themselves as such - a warning already found in traditions from Greek and Roman mythology, where every year a virgin was sacrificed to a malevolent spirit in the form of a wolf.
