The motive was partially minted in color and shows a depiction of Puss in Boots, based on the fairy tale by Charles Perrault, symbolically carrying the kingdom in a sack on his back. In one hand he holds a mouse, which is the wizard that Puss in Boots was able to trick into demonstrating his power by turning himself into a mouse. The land that originally belonged to the wizard was given to his master, a miller's son, through the help of Puss in Boots. The miller's son also owes his marriage to the king's daughter to the clever mind of Puss in Boots. The reverse shows the coat of arms of Niue as well as the denomination and year of issue. Along the edge of the coin are numerous symbols from the fairy tale.
