Only 8,000 of the original Gothic Crowns were ever struck many remain firmly in the hands of delighted collectors. This 2021 issue features a unique young effigy of QEII in gothic styling by Jody Clark. QEII has never been styled in this way before, and the effigy was approved by the Palace exclusively for use on the 2021 Alderney Gothic Crown. On the reverse, it features four crowned shields, forming a cross around the arms of the Order of the Garter. Two of the shields feature the arms of England, three lions passant. The two remaining shields feature the arms of Ireland and Scotland: a harp, and a lion rampant. Between the shields are the floral badges of England, Scotland, and Ireland; a Rose, Thistle, and Shamrock respectively. Around the central design, the legend reads true to the original. 'tueatur unita deus anno dom mdcccxlvii', or ‘May God Guard these United Kingdoms, Year of Our Lord 1847'. Don't wait and call us to collect this special set today!
