The rectangular coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and features a depiction of the proud and loyal Hippogriff named **Buckbeak**. Symbolic of the Hippogriff, the background was colored in purple. For further enhancement, three purple cubic zirconia stones are incorporated. The reverse depicts the Public Seal of Niue as well as the year of issue "2023" and the denomination "TWO DOLLARS". **Buckbeak** is a hippogriff, a flying hybrid, because its front legs, wings and head resemble those of a giant eagle, while its torso, tail and hind legs look like those of a horse. They are considered sublime companions, provided they are given the necessary respect. The rectangular silver coin is delivered in the original box of the **New Zealand Mint** including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
