The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver and features a full-color image of the iconic **1997 Batmobile™**. Also included in the design are the Batman™ logo, a colorful likeness of Batman™ and the inscription "1997 Batmobile". The film Batman & Robin was the fourth and final installment in the series that began in 1989. For this, the action blockbuster received a completely new Batmobile. The inspiration for the car came from older racing roadsters like the Jaguar D Type and the Delahaye 165. The new 1977 Batmobile™ was about 9 meters long and road tested at over 225 km/h. Like the Batman Forever car, the 1997 version featured illuminated wheels and engine cowling. Louvers were added to the leading edges of the wings and nose. Additionally, the bat mask was added as a detail to the nose of the car. The single-seat cockpit features a video conferencing screen, a radar unit and a Redbird cutoff switch. The reverse of the coin features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The coin is presented in an acrylic case, so both sides can be viewed.
