The reverse features the effigy of King Charles III as well as the denomination, weight, fineness and year of issue. Born on September 14, 1804 in Dorset, England, John Gould was one of the most famous ornithologists and animal painters of the 19th century. His travels and research resulted in several works on the animal world of Australia, including colorful drawings of the pale-headed rosella. The brightly colored parrot is native to eastern Australia and characterized by its light, cream-colored head, greenish-yellow plumage, and blue cheek patches. It inhabits open woodlands and bushland, feeds on seeds and fruits, and is usually seen in pairs or small groups.
