### Tangaroa - Set - 2 Coins 2 x 1 Oz Silver - Proof - in Color - 2 x 1 Ounce of 99.9% Silver - Motives in Color - **Limited Mintage only 400 sets** - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box This set consisting of two silver coins, each struck from one ounce of silver in proof quality, has been issued by the **New Zealand Post** in honor of **Tangaroa**. The colored designs of both coins included in the set feature traditional pūhoro designs and depict Tangaroa and various sea creatures within waves. The inscription "TANGAROA - GUARDIAN OF THE OCEAN" as well as the denomination and the inscription "KOTAHI TARA" are also included in the design of both coins. The reverse of each coin features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the weight, fineness and year of issue. In Māori tradition, Tangaroa is a deity who is considered the guardian of the oceans and waters, and is also referred to in various traditions as the father of sea creatures. He is one of the children of the sky father Ranginui and the earth mother Papatūānuku. The motives of the silver coins refer to Tangaroa's ability to control the tides and waves. The waves surrounding him are meant to replicate the effect created when a canoe travels on water. The sea creatures are representative of the many stories surrounding Tangaroa's ancestry and descendants. A special role is given to the whale, which is said to be a descendant of Tangaroa and on whose back the ancestors of the Māori could safely reach New Zealand. Whales are therefore considered the protectors of sailors. The **set consisting of two 1 ounce silver coins in color** is **limited to only 400 sets worldwide**. It is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from New Zealand Post.
