The motive features a portrait of Bertolt Brecht in the style of a graphic novel drawing. The design is framed by the inscription "125. GEBURTSTAG VON BERTOLT BRECHT" and the quote "ÄNDERE DIE WELT SIE BRAUCHT ES". The reverse shows the federal eagle, the inscription "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND", the denomination, the year of issue, the twelve stars of Europe and the mintmark "J" of the mint Hamburg.
