The design for the fifth and last German 20 Euro **silver coin** of the year 2018 comes from the German artist Katrin Pannicke. Ernst Otto Fischer was acclaimed for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (1973) for his research in the field of metal-carbon bonds together with the British Geoffrey Wilkinson. The image side of the coin in proof quality shows the artistically transformed model of a chemical combination of chromium and benzene, for which he also received the 1973 Nobel Prize. The reverse of the silver coin shows the German eagle, the lettering "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND" and the mintmark "D".
