2018 2 oz Australia Next Generation Series - Koala .9999 Silver Piedfort Coin
This is the first release in an new series of silver bullion coins from the Perth Mint. Entitled "The Next Generation" series, each coin in the series will depict a mother and baby of an iconic animal in Australian wildlife. Mintage is just 75,000 coins! Each two ounce Next Generation silver coin is produced with micro-engraved radial lines for enhanced aesthetics and security. Also, this is the first time the Perth Mint has issued a silver bullion coin with a piedfort design, meaning a coin produced with double thickness and "weight". On the obverse, it depicts the classic QEII bust along with the weight (2 toz), purity (.9999 fine silver), date (2018) and face value ($2 AUD) of the coin. On the reverse, it depicts the iconic Australian Koala mother and baby together on a branch. Designed by Aleysha Howarth.
