### The Wave - Hokusai - Masterpieces of Museums 10 Euro - 22,2 gr. Silver - Proof - Rectangular Coin - Limited Mintage only 3,000 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box The Monnaie de Paris dedicates the series **"Masterpieces of Museums"** to the great works of art that are exhibited or have been created in **France**. This rectangular commemorative coin is issued in honor of the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai and his woodblock print **"The Wave"**. The image is perceived as one of the most important works of Japanese art. It shows three fishing boats in the middle of a gigantic wave in the foreground and the Fuji volcano in the background. The artwork emphasizes the contrast between the destructive power of nature and the fragility of man. The coin motive presents a representation of the work of art and the dome of the Grand Palais in Paris. In addition, the inscriptions "LA VAGUE D'HOKUSAI" and "CHEFS D'ŒUVRE DES MUSÉES" can be seen. The year of issue "2020" is shown in the upper right-hand corner, while the reverse of the coin shows different views of French museums, as well as the denomination of **"10 EURO"** and the inscription "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE". The limited **silver** commemorative coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
