### French Excellence - Lacoste 50 Euro - 5 Oz Silver - Proof - Official issue in collaboration with Lacoste - Limited Mintage only 500 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box With the **French Excellence** series, the **Monnaie de Paris** celebrates the tradition of fine French craftsmanship. The 2023 edition pays homage to **Lacoste**, the first sportswear brand in history, as well as to its **90th founding anniversary**. The motive of the silver coin combines the brand's special connection with the competitive sport of tennis. The upper edge of the coin features a crocodile, the emblem of the brand and the nickname of the founder René Lacoste, as well as a tennis ball. The crocodile looks down on the silhouette of the tennis champion. The background of rectangular lines is meant to recall the clay courts of Roland-Garros. The reverse of the coin is divided into three different sections, just like a tennis ball, depicting the texture of a crocodile skin, the texture of a Lacoste piqué cotton polo shirt and the texture of a tennis racket. Also included in the design is the denomination, with the number "0" being represented by a golf ball, a tribute to golf champion Simone Thion de la Chaume and wife of René Lacoste. The world-renowned French clothing brand Lacoste was founded in 1933 by the successful tennis player René Lacoste (1904-1996). The trademark, a stylized crocodile, is internationally known and adorns not only clothing, but also perfume, leather goods, eyewear and shoes. The **limited 5 oz commemorative coin in proof quality** is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
