To highlight the special connection between the Lacoste brand and competitive sports, particularly golf and tennis, this silver coin was struck **in the shape of a tennis racket**. The tennis racket's cover features a crocodile, the brand's emblem and nickname of René Lacoste, and a tennis ball. As a tribute to Simone Thion de la Chaume, golf champion and wife of René Lacoste, the tennis ball has been given the texture of a golf ball. The reverse features the famous cotton piqué pattern, as well as the denomination and year of issue. The world-renowned French clothing brand Lacoste was founded in 1933 by the successful tennis player René Lacoste (1904-1996). The trademark, a stylized crocodile, is internationally known and adorns not only clothing, but also perfume, leather goods, eyewear and shoes.
