The reverse shows an image of the Institut de France as well as the denomination and year of issue. Albert I was born **Albert Honoré Charles Grimaldi** in Paris on November 13th, 1848. The son of Charles III of Monaco and Antoinette de Mérode-Westerloo, he ruled the Principality of Monaco from 1889 until his death in June 1922.
