These magnificent gold coins celebrate the Year of the Dog, one of 12 animals associated with the ancient Chinese lunar calendar. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be loyal, amiable, kind and friendly. No mintage limit applies to 1kg, 10oz, 2oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz, and 1/20oz coins. However, production will close at the end of 2018 when The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. The Perth Mint will produce no more than 30,000 1oz coins. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the series, whichever comes first. Due to the low mintage of the 1oz size, it is highly collectable and is sure to sell out fast. Meticulously struck from 99.99% pure gold in bullion quality, the coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. **Coin Highlights:** - Trusted investment options - 99.99% pure gold - Australian legal tender - Government assurance of weight and purity - Wide range of coin sizes - New reverse artistry - Limited mintage on 1oz coin - Strong collector interest **Design:** The reverse of each coin depicts a Labrador Retriever on rocks and featuring a stylised pine tree in the background. The design also incorporates the Chinese character for ‘dog’, the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse of each coin. **Presentation:** Each bullion coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
