Few series of gold bullion coins have achieved the same acclaim and widespread international popularity as the Chinese Gold Panda. This world-renown coin series is back with the 2016 30 Gram Chinese Gold Panda (sealed in original mint plastic)! Struck from .999 fine gold, each of these coins is legal tender with a face value of 500 Yuan. Additionally, each coin contains 30 grams (0.9645 troy oz) of fine gold content. The coin you receive comes safely sealed in its original plastic sheet from the mint. The coin measures 32 mm in diameter. The reverse design features an adorable panda as it clings to a tree branch. The background is filled by a wall of bamboo stalks, and the legal tender denomination of 500 Yuan is indicated just below the panda. A portion of the top and bottom of the reverse design employs an attractive bamboo leaf pattern. Within this bottom portion, the coin's technical specifications are inscribed: "30g Au .999." The obverse bears the familiar facade of the Temple of Heaven's Hall of Good Harvests, a distinctive building located in Beijing. This image is contained within an inner ring. The outer ring contains the year-date "2016" at the bottom rim, while the top rim is filled by inscriptions that translate to the issuing country, the People's Republic of China. More so than perhaps any other country's bullion coin series, the Chinese Gold Panda keeps collectors on their toes by issuing a new original reverse design each year. (The only exception was from 2000 to 2001.) It embodies Chinese culture in its designs, as well, truly making it an international sensation. With its 0.9645 troy ounce (30 grams) of pure gold, these coins offer great appeal to precious metal investors as well.
