### Wallal Expedition - 100th Anniversary 1 Oz Silver - Proof - Dome-Shaped - Innovative dome shaped Coin - Mintage only 5,000 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box On the occasion of the **100th anniversary of the Wallal Expedition**, the **Royal Australian Mint** has issued this coin struck from one ounce 99.9% silver in proof quality. The motive features a globe within a gravitational field, which symbolically represents Einstein's theory of relativity, and a depiction of the sun. Where Wallal is located in Australia, the globe has been marked. In addition, the narrow band from whose position the solar eclipse of 1922 could be observed is depicted. Also included in the design are the inscriptions "WALLAL CENTENARY" - "AUSTRALIA TESTS EINSTEIN'S THEORY" and the weight and fineness of the coin. The domed shape of the **silver coin** adds depth to the motive, creating a particularly realistic effect. The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The **Wallal Expedition** refers to an expedition of international and Australian scientists to Wallal, Australia. Conditions in this remote corner of Western Australia were ideal at the time for photographing a total solar eclipse that was to occur on September 21, 1922. The photographs taken during the groundbreaking expedition allowed accurate measurement of the apparent position of stars near the eclipsed sun. This provided scientists with proof of Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. Limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide, the **domed silver coin commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Wallal Expedition** is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the Royal Australian Mint.
