### Australian Opal Series (5.) - Tasmanian Devil - 2014 1 Oz Silver - Proof - **Coin design with Australian opal** - 99.9% Silver - Limited Mintage only 8,000 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Deliver< in original Box The fifth issue of the **Australian Opal Series** is dedicated to the **Tasmanian Devil** (Sarcophilus harrisii). The coin was minted by the Perth Mint from 1 ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality. In the center is the design of the Tasmanian Devil, crafted from **genuine Australian opal**. The opal design is framed by elements from the natural habitat of the powerful carnivorous marsupial. The inscription "TASMANIAN DEVIL", the traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint as well as details of weight, fineness and year of issue are also included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the face value. The Tasmanian Devil is a carnivorous marsupial from Tasmania and the largest surviving carnivorous marsupial. It is known for its loud screams, its strong bite force and its role as a scavenger in the ecosystem. The species is highly endangered, mainly due to a contagious cancer disease that has drastically reduced the population since the 1990s. Limited to 8,000 pieces worldwide, the **Tasmanian Devil silver coin with genuine Australian opal** is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the **Perth Mint**.
