### Australian Opal Series (8.) - Ghost Bat - 2015 1 Oz Silver - Proof - **Coin design with Australian opal** - 99.9% Silver - Limited Mintage only 8,000 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box The eighth and final issue of the **Australian Opal Series** is dedicated to the **Ghost Bat** (Macroderma gigas). The coin was minted by the Perth Mint from 1 ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality. In the center is the design of the bat, crafted from **genuine Australian opal**. The opal design is framed by elements from the natural habitat of the nocturnal predator. The inscription "GHOST BAT", the traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint, as well as details of weight, fineness and year of issue are also included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination. The ghost bat is a large bat species native to Australia, known for its pale, almost translucent appearance. Unlike many other bats, it feeds not only on insects but also on small vertebrates such as frogs, lizards and even other bats. It hunts using very keen hearing and is considered one of the few actively hunting predatory bats. Limited to 8,000 pieces worldwide, the **ghost bat silver coin with genuine Australian opal** is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the **Perth Mint**.
