Although the **Kookaburra Patterns** never circulated, yet they are still treasured in numismatic circles today. This **1919 - 1921 Kookaburra Pattern three square coin set** was struck by the **Royal Australian Mint** from 3 x 1/4 ounce of silver and remembers the historic Kookaburra coins, valued for their designs and rarity. The motives of the three coins are the original designs from 1919, 1920 and 1921. In 1919, Australia's Government, championed by the Treasurer, proposed to exchange Australia's old cumbersome bronze pennies and halfpennies with new coins that wou'd be lighter and more uniquely Australian in design. Between 1919 and 1921, thirteen designs were trialled by the Royal Australian Mint, all based on a square shape and bearing the image of a perched laughing kookaburra on their reverse. With only 3,000 pieces this set is strictly limited. The sets are delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity of the Royal Australian Mint.
