With a size of up to 19 cm, the Northern Pygmy Owl belongs to the smaller owl species and is a passionate hunter. Its plumage is dark brown and speckled with white, while the eyes are bright yellow. The Northern Pygmy owl can raise its relatively long tail, similar to the wren. The crepuscular bird is mainly found in mountainous regions and in coniferous and mixed forests with old-growth stands.
