The motive features an image of the African continent and a pelican with a young animal. The design also includes the inscriptions "AFRICAN OUNCE", "2022" and "1oz FINE SILVER 999". The reverse depicts the coat of arms of Rwanda. Pelicans are large waterfowl, distinguished in particular by their long beak and enlarged throat pouch. With a capacity of up to 13 liters, the throat pouch serves the pelican as a landing net when fishing. Pelicans are native to tropical, subtropical and temperate zones and feed almost exclusively on fish. As a heraldic animal, the pelican can be seen on the coats of arms of the US state of Louisiana, Barbados, Arbois (France) and Luckenwalde (Germany), among others. The **African Ounce Series** with annually changing motive honors a different African species each year. The **silver bullion coin** is delivered sealed in the original plastic foil.
